You can buy a 446 or 470 rear axle as a complete unit if youd rather replace say a 373 rear-end with an open diff. Its not going to be cheap though. Both the 446 and the 470 cost 2275a.

A 10-bolt rear cover with 716-inch bolts is the easiest way to identify this unit. The cover is not quite square measuring about 10 12 inches high by 11 inches long the 7 12-inch rear end uses a cover that measures 10 916 inches square. The pinion shaft is 1 58 inches and has a 30-spline count.
